Happy New Year!

While we are still scribbling out 2024 and writing in 2025, it's a great time to pause and appreciate where we've been.

Join us as we look back at the key insights that tell a story of how the Excel Courier team supported our Mid-Atlantic community in 2024.

Excel is the name, courier is the game

252600

deliveries
completed

Over 200,000 packages were handled and over 11 million pounds were moved in 2024, which is the equivalent of over 845 elephants!

We achieved a 95% on-time delivery rate. Why is this important? In courier, in addition to quality service, timing is  e v e r y t h i n g.

47% of orders were delivered between 9 am and 2 pm, with our busiest days being Tuesdays and Wednesdays, totaling over 104,000 deliveries between the two days.

Our most requested services were scheduleddedicated,

rush, deadline, and regular.

No surprise here, but our cars and vans (cargo, transit, sprinter) made up 97% of our requests. They beat the other vehicles in our fleet, like covered pickups, minivans, reefer trucks, reefer vans, straight trucks, and tractor-trailers.

Why does this make sense? It's because we specialize in critical same-day deliveries. Car and cargo vans are ideal for maneuvering through busy city streets and making fast and dependable deliveries in densely populated regions like the DMV.

You Called [and emailed], we answered

Almost a third of you loved hearing our voice (or email) but did you know that if you have recurring or dedicated deliveries, you can have your orders scheduled in our system for a completely hands-free experience? Over 60% of you did!

If our portal is accessible, you can place your on-call deliveries online. In 2024, 7% took advantage of this feature.

However, some clients require immediate services and cannot afford delays or the risk associated with multiple hand-offs that could disrupt the chain of custody.

Never Stop Learning

Throw those caps in the air! Excel Courier values building careers alongside learning. With each lesson crafted to empower our team to lead, grow, and navigate both the business world and life with confidence.

This year has been exciting, with SIX live workforce development courses guided by a knowledgeable facilitator. We explored subjects, including:

Employee Branding

Coaching

Teaching

Working in a High Performing Culture

Decision Making

Critical Thinking

Team members joined a series of FIVE in-person Microsoft Excel courses where they learned how to navigate FUNctions and spreadsheets, from the basics to the complexities. Pivot tables, anyone?

Dedicated to the task, devoted to the fun

All work and no play makes [Excel] a dull company. This year we hosted at least TWELVE social gatherings from our annual State of Excel company party, Ukrop's 10K run in Richmond, Driver Appreciation Week, kayaking, multiple happy hours, to hikes and food drives to support our local communities in Northern Virginia, Maryland, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia.

Don't Turn Around [Look Ahead]

Thank you for hopping in the time machine with us. Memory lanes are great but we are all about moving forward. It's in our tagline, after all! Excel Courier's CEO, Chris Marchetti, says it best in his reflection on the year when he said,

"As the year comes to a close and a new one begins, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone: our clients, drivers, team, and friends who made 2024 such a wonderful year. Your partnership drives everything we do, and we’re excited to accomplish even more together in 2025."

To throw another number in the mix, Chris has just celebrated 42 years in logistics. 🎉

We're excited to jump into 2025 and see how we can support our wonderful clients with new services and support teammates with new learning and career opportunities. Thank you all for being #1 to us.
